It's Been a Year Already?

Wow! It's been over a year since I've last posted to my blog. I am seriously slacking, but in my defense, it has been a hectic year. The last time I wrote a blog post I was over Knoxville; ready to move and explore a new city. I felt alone, my job was stressing me out, and I had no reason to stay in Knox. After being the only one in the office for a month, I had a new boss start at work. I thought "What the hell am I igetting myself into"? With a promotion, a new boss, and a brand new staff, things were about to get interesting in the office.... Little did I know that my boss would soon become one of my best friends and create the best work environment I've ever been in. She trusted me to do my job and to get it done in a timely manner. She was someone I could go to with anything; never judging me and always giving me advice. I enjoyed going to work each morning and goofing off when our work was done. I was finally learning to love my job again.

A few months later, my friends started coming around and I even started hanging out with some new friends. Going to Bristol Motor Speedway, Tennessee football games, tailgating, traveling, going on dates.... Things were looking up! Did I still want to move in the summer? Sure. But making it until the end of July seemed a lot more bearable now. In May, my Stepbrother graduated from Baylor University and I flew to Texas to watch him graduate and move into his new apartment to start a new promotion at his job! I even got to go visit my old roommates in Nashville after not seeing them for months (we had a blast, as usual). I couldn't remember the last time I'd been this happy or laughed as much as I had been over the past few months.

In October my company sent me up to Lexington, KY to help out at a few of our apartment communities there. I felt honored that my regional managers trusted me enough to help train employees and assist at other communities. Right before Thanksgiving, after returning from Lexington once more, my regional manager asked me if I wanted to move to Kentucky and accept another promotion. I was torn. At first my mind went "No, you aren't ready for all that responsibility" and then quickly turned to "you can do anything you set your mind to"... After talking to my current boss and regional manager, I accepted the promotion in order to better my career. Of course, I wasn't planning on moving until the summer of 2020, in order to give myself to figure out where I wanted to move, hang out with my friends, and find a job. But clearly things happened a little sooner than expected. When an opportunity presents itself, you take it. And so 4 days before Christmas I moved my entire life to Kentucky, somewhere I never pictured myself living.

So here I am, almost 4 months into life in Lexington, and these past few months have been some of the hardest months I've ever experienced in my life. I knew 1 person when I moved to Lexington, and with the stress of my job I felt alone and extremely depressed. I felt this was the worst mistake and I should have stayed in Knoxville. I wanted to quit my job, move back home to Texas, and be with family. Sure things have gotten better and I've met a few new friends but you never really know what you had until it's gone, ya know? Everything happens for a reason and every chapter of life teaches you a new lesson. Don't get me wrong, Lexington is a neat city, but Kentucky is not the place for me.The only thing I can say is this is the farthest north I've ever lived which means there are more states I've never been to that I can explore!

So stay tuned for new adventures, new places, and see what other wild things happen to me (after this coronavirus pandemic is over of course)!
